Practice makes improvement

I sketch all kinds of stuff but I confess, I have an obsession with sketching eggs. Yeah, I know. Go figure. Right?  Well, I have done seven sketches over the past two weeks, not to “get it right” or “sketch a perfect egg” but to feel comfortable and confident when I have to or want to sketch an egg. It’s all about the learning process, the practice, and seeing improvement along the way – not just with eggs but everything I sketch.

How long will I keep sketching eggs? Until I can dish up a sketch in a pinch, until I get fed up, or until I latch unto new obsession? I don’t know.

This much I’ll say, my art adventure is proving to be one heck of a ride. I’m embracing the twists, turns, challenges, lessons, connections, satisfaction, and joy it offers up along the way. Moreover, my penchant for perfection is taking a backseat as I adopt a new motto: Practice makes improvement.
