Blogathon 2012 – May 22. Peeling back the layers

Often to get to the heart of who we are and what we want, we have to peel back the layers of our lives. Many of those layers were applied when we were young and impressionable. Others we adopted to shield ourselves from real or imagined pain.

Eventually, we arrive at a juncture where we recognize that we are not living authentic lives. We feel the need to get back to our true selves. But we see only layers of beliefs, personality traits, personal preferences, etc. that do not portray who we truly are. We can’t afford to waste time bemoaning our past, battling our present circumstances or fearing the future. This is a time to begin peeling back those inaccurate, deceptive and debilitating layers to get back to the heart of our true selves, so that, we can make the decisions and take the actions that will take us on the path to authentic living, every day and in every situation.

  1. Well, good for you Terri.

Sometimes we cry but it is a cathartic exercise:linking us to our true beliefs and values, building self-confidence, strengthening our cherished relationships, deepening our resolve to treat ourselves well and the list goes on.
